Coconut - A natural elixir

The heat oops cold is on . The little weather birdies say that its the coldest in 25 years..And as always the companions of cold are dryness , itchiness and flakiness and if you have a 2sh toddler these seem to be a triple threat

Enter coconut oil- the savior (cue tune in the Head dam dam di dam)

Coconut oil has often found place in our ancient texts and ayurveda but these days... purity is a big question so if you want the best results go for cold pressed organic coconut oil. I am enumerating a few of the ways I use coconut in my daily life.... Your mission if you choose to accept it is to Try , test and report back... Damn , I wish Ethan Hawke was here right now..

Ok moving to the more mundane

1. Add a few cubes of camphor ( sold in packets ) in coconut oil. Keep it in the sun for 20 minutes. Apply this oil on your hair and scalp. It helps in tackling dandruff.Test a patch on your skin for any allergies
2. Deep conditioning treatment - Apply warm oil and massage into scalp. Cover with a towel soaked in hot water and wrung out to provide a steam and heat treatment. Leave in for 30 minutes .
3. Make up remover – use a cotton sponge and a dab of coconut oil 
4. Massage Oil – Warm a bit of coconut oil and massage and massage 
5. Stretch Mark Cream and Scar fader – coconut oil is great at nourishing damaged skin. It is specially beneficial for new scars that are red . It helps in fading the scars and improves the overall appearance of skin making it softer and more supple

My husband has quite a sensitive olfactory nerve to my surprise and Im sure the fragrance of this will entice him for another touch ooops smell

The new "hair " aka new year party

And we are back with a bang literally after the new year . Welcome 2013.. 
Lots to party and plan but more about that later. I was thinking of something that happened 
over the course of the new year party where I wish I had opted for my hair removal in time for this year literally .
Picture this..Background Noise- Toddler wailing on full volume . Soft focus zoom out -Pretty lady all dressed up.Move to Zoom in - the lady struggling with her tights and realizing somethings not right . The Doorbell rings and in waltzes the Romantic Hero.. Paramaparam... Cut to Romantic orchestra and the baby wailing louder and louder. The Time's now 7 pm and the Hero aka husband insists that the Chariot awaits and he is here to spirit the angels away to a new year party . The Husband takes the Ladies...in a swoon and with a dramatic pause states.. Is stubble the new female thing.?... OOOOppppsss , I forgot to Wax and then there was no time... So that's why my tights were struggling. I wish I had a product to do the job for me asap as time was a wasting. But , Alas there was no time and I had to leave as I was thankful for the dim lights .Still I wish I had used the Gillette products for a smooth and speedy job well done.This taught me a lesson and I was prepared the next time the Hubs announced a further soiree.

Its that time again.. procrastination and sheer boredom have again forced me to turn to the wise worldly web .... After poring through countless pages on pinterest and being told by my husband... MT that I'm living in an alternate universe .. namely cake world.. Its time to wield the baton again .. or to be more precise indulge in more culinary adventures as well as some more things ... This blog was always the pursuit of happinings so.. lets start afresh....
Coming up... Freshly baked chocolate chip cookies ... From Nestle Toll house dough.. Too Nice not to be shared.. so they're on their way to my friends house...

cake decorating Haul

I heart Kitchen and company.... I got a coupon to shop at this outlet that,s opened a cross my one an only love TARGET.. And I said why not.. So I had a look see and got home simemamazing stuff... why a haul
I Got an amazing cake comb/ smoother
Ateco tip 81 .. just on a whim.. I don't even know what's its for
amazing cookie cutters .. amanagerie if u please.. for my babes specially a Teddy,  cat and a dog.. Flowers and butterfly and for moi the most disposablenet important tools for cake decorating. A bag of disposable bags Yay...
as and when I use this stuff I'll update.

Class Two

Class Two n the cake decorating course was a blast... It was fun.. We had to take one cake.. Which the instructor helped me to ice and ts about transferring a pattern onto a cake using piping gel.. Pretty Nifty. I tried a Bird as my Tot is quite fond of the words....
So all you need to do is
1. Decide on a deisgn and cover the deisgn with wax paper. Tape it so it stays put... Word of warning.. It works on the mirror effect so if u want a particular direction of if u have words.. Put the picture in reverse.
2. Trace the design using piping gel mixed with a colour onto wax paper
3. Once ur buttercream is set .. Put the wax paper piping gel side  down onto the cake and using a plin brush.. lightly brush the pattern
4. Pray.. Peel off pattern slowly and Voila...
5.Pipe as desired ....
Enjoy

U can also transfer more complex pictures using buttercream transfers ... More on that later

Wilton cake decorating course 1

Yeah.. I finally did .. I made it to the first class for the cake decorating and I was soooo excited I made my Hubby drop me off 10 mins earlier than start time... Initial hiccoughs resolved .. we were on our merry way mixing and piping... YAY and then suddenly I heard a wail so distinctive to any Mommy ... So I bought minime into my class... BTW the teach is Fab... Shout out to Allison..

The first class's pretty basic.. All you do is see a lot of products... Admire ur  Amazing Kit

Re-re-re-Return

To everything turn turn turn...
And a time for every purpose...
So we are back after a two month trip to India... to enjoy one last summer in the Us...
Lots of changes ... La Bebe is 15 months old.... Gosh and Running up a strom.. I'll say shes akin to the proverbial bull in the china shop..
We have a summer Ahead of us.. and summer calls for fun....
Minime has enrolled in Gymboree and I have signed up finally for the Cake decorating course at Michaels...
So Join us as we have a last blast in this place which seemed like home just not...
I start my Class on Wednesday and the First order of Business is Supplies and 6 flat cookies...
We are a baking family so we bake... Coming up tonight 6 chocolate cookies for me and the rest for my Baby ...
